When should I RSVP?
We require your response by Monday, October 7, 2024. Please RSVP even if you aren't attending!
What time should I arrive?
Doors will open at 4:30 pm. Please plan to arrive early to enjoy pre-ceremony champagne on the 8th floor. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 pm, and due to venue restrictions, late seating will not be an option. Be punctual!
What does Black-Tie Optional mean?
It means dress up and go all out! We are encouraging black-tie attire with more aesthetic leeway — suits and formal evening dresses are suggested, but tuxedos, bow ties, and floor-length gowns are not required. The bride does kindly request that, regardless of your gender, you do not wear white — e.g. guests in stormtrooper armor will not be admitted. Clone trooper armor is fine.
When will I choose my meal?
Dinner selections will be made tableside on the night of the wedding. You will have the opportunity to pick from a menu, as well as alert the staff to any allergies or dietary restrictions.
Can I take pictures or video during the ceremony?
We respectfully ask that everyone be prepared to turn off their phones and refrain from taking pictures or video until after the ceremony.
Will there be a coat check?
Yes! A free coat check will be on the 8th floor of the hotel outside of the three main lobby elevators. If you come up through the Madison Street elevators, head down the small staircase on the 8th floor and past the bathrooms toward the White City Ballroom the Michigan Avenue elevators on the east end of the floor.
Can you suggest places to eat, drink and see while I am in the area?
We sure can! Please see the Things to Do page—we put a lot of thought into it.
Do I get a plus one?
To keep our wedding intimate, we ask that you please not bring a guest unless it was specifically noted on your invitation. If your partner was unintentionally omitted, please reach out to Jason or Emily.
Can I bring my kids?
We thank you for understanding that, with the exception of the bridal party, our wedding day will be an 21+ event. To accommodate our family members traveling with children, we will have a babysitter available in a designated room on site.
I have more questions, who can I contact?
Feel free to reach out directly to Jason or Emily by text, or you can reach Joan (joan.herrington@wmich.edu) or John (duysguys@gmail.com) by email.
Will Patti LuPone be there?
We can neither confirm nor deny these rumors at this time.
